Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) is an effective learning strategy which can increase motivation, metacognitive and academic performance of students. However, there are discrepancies in the implementation of SRL in the learning process such as students’ lack of self-confidence and ignorance about how to plan their assignments in a right way. An advance learning technology will not guarantee a good learning outcome for students if they do not have an effective learning strategy. It is believed that when SRL is combined with new and advanced learning technology, it will produce a very good impact on students themselves. As such, this conceptual paper will discuss an overview of SRL, 21st century learning technology and the components that should be implemented in conjunction with new learning technology for the 21st century education. © 2017 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
