This research was undertaken to determine the purpose of participation of adults attending the courses organized in public education centers under the Ministry of National Education in the central districts of Ankara and their opinions about the courses. A total of 216 adults were included in the research of which 40.7% of adults participated in the course to obtain certificate and acquire a profession and 38.9% participated in the course to obtain new information and improve themselves. Male participants, the 54+ age group, individuals and employees think that their purpose in participating in courses has been achieved. A great majority of the participants stated that the total duration of the course was sufficient. All of the participants think that they can use the knowledge that they acquired from the course in daily life.
