One of the critical science education related variable that decides the selection of science career in near future by secondary school students is science career commitment. Whose model was validated using network approach in the present study. Science self-efficacy, motivation, engagement and identity served as the nodes of the studied network measured using Science Motivation Questionnaire II (SMQ-II) scale developed by Glynn et al., (2011), Students’ Science Engagement Scale(SSES) developed by Baraquia (2019), science identity (SciID) developed by Lockhart et al. (2022) and Science Career Commitment scale(SCCS) developed by Chemers et al. (2011). The study comprised of 1125 students with boy (N= 659,58.57%) and girl (N=466, 41.43%) belonging to eight secondary schools of India. The results indicated that all the five variables form a single network of highly interrelated nodes. The goodness of fit estimates found using WLSMV estimator indicated acceptable fitting of empirical data with the hypothesized network structure. Science engagement emerged as the most important node in the network of science career commitment in secondary school students. The implications of the study with respect to science education at secondary level and psychometric research in India are discussed. © 2025, Green Publication. All rights reserved.
