Digital Cultural Heritage: Challenges, Solutions, and Future Directions
Journal · pp. 40-56
Abstract

Whether a buyer or a customer, everyone’s life is impacted by today’s digital innovation. The expansion of digitalization is being powered by high accessibility, modern technologies, and reasonable prices with high speed. Traditional businesses can be digitalized and brought into the modern world by using convenient and cutting-edge packing, productivity, ordering, payments, and other services. While some researchers have peeped into a few aspects of the digitalization of cultural heritage, but no studies have been conducted specifically around the digitalization of handicrafts. This study partially fills this knowledge gap by discussing how digitalization can rejuvenate Indian traditional handicraft products. Also, a light has been thrown on various digital tools, techniques, and platforms that can be used as a strategy to support and promote Indian traditional handicrafts. This chapter speaks about hurdles during the digitalization of handicrafts and ends with solutions to these problems, including a short description of various efforts made by the government. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Vinay Kukreja, Jagpuneet Kaur Bajwa, Amitoj Singh, and Deepinder Kaur; individual chapters, the contributors.
