Global Priorities for the Development of Society and the Formation of Environmental Value Systems

Abstract

The rapid increase in environmental, social and economic challenges facing the universe today depicts the importance of developing environmental values and sustainable priorities. These priorities are designed to promote sustainable development, conserve natural resources, and improve the quality of life for future generations. However, despite the global recognition of the significance of this phenomenon, the integration of environmental values into the educational system lacks sufficient consideration. This paper explores the formation of environmental value systems and their role in shaping ecological awareness and responsible behavior within society. A particular focus is placed on the need for a structured approach to embedding environmental consciousness in the training of future educators, particularly biology teachers, who play a crucial role in fostering sustainable attitudes among students. This study adopts a comprehensive methodological framework that comprises theoretical analysis, pedagogical experiments, and statistical evaluation to analyze educational practices in environmental training. Theoretical analysis findings indicate that environmental education is included in many curricula but lacks a cohesive framework that fosters theoretical knowledge and practical application. The experimental results show that a well-structured methodology improves students' ecological awareness and commitment to sustainable practices. The study underscores the importance of developing knowledge about nature and forming a respectful, responsible and valuable attitude toward the environment. Societies must begin to understand that nature is a resource and a unique value that is important to preserve for future generations. © The Author(s) 2025.
