Between adherence to training and distancing from the school order in the SAPAT vocational training programme. Based on an ethnographic survey conducted in a vocational agricultural high school, in a field of studywhere the majority of students are girls and where recruitment is predominantly from the working class, this article proposes to examine the diverse and possibly heterodox ways in which female high school students make their educational trajectory and their training experiences their own. Far from being docile or submissive, we show that they distance themselves from the academic judgements made about them in at least two ways: by strongly adhering to the vocational school training project, which values other ways of doing and learning at school; by distancing themselves from academic and training issues and by valuing their adolescent self. © Association Féminin Masculin Recherches.
