Abstract

Accountability is crucial to credential management in educational institutions. Credential rules and technology must ensure correctness, transparency, and security as credentials increasingly affect academic integrity, employment chances, and institutional reputation. The chapter covers leadership commitment, role clarity, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder involvement. It emphasizes using technology like credential management systems, data encryption, and system interoperability to improve efficiency and prevent fraud. Case studies and best practices demonstrate how continual development and responsive feedback loops sustain accountability. The chapter concludes by recognizing blockchain and micro-credentialing trends and encouraging institutions to innovate ethically.
