In this chapter, the author envisions different models (or types) of pentecostal higher education, beginning with schools that (1) focus on ministerial preparation but nonetheless encourage students to explore other areas of engagement as well. Another possibility for pentecostal institutions would be (2) to offer an education within a certain niche, such as affordable online education, a largely screen-free experience at an offline college, or a co-op model in which students study and work at the same time. Most importantly, some of the strongest pentecostal universities should (3) aim to become research universities, thereby enabling pentecostals to serve society not only by teaching what is already known, but also through the discovery of new truths. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
