The changes in the world of work derived from globalization and neoliberalism have put employability at the center of attention of economic and social development. However, the lack of consensus in the theories and dimensions that define it calls for an analysis of the research that allows its use as a strategy for social change. The objective of this work is to carry out a systematic review of the theoretical frameworks on employability. An analysis of 239 scientific articles has been carried out focusing on two thematic areas: the history of the concept and the theoretical perspectives. The results of this review have made it possible to systematize and understand the theoretical orientations from which employability has been analyzed, the premises that the different theories take as a starting point and the proposed indicators. Based on all this, some questions have been opened for reflection by social agents linked to education, social action and employment. © 2020, CIRIEC. All rights reserved.
