This chapter focuses on the gender diversity in the Bahamas and analyzes the challenges faced by the country in addressing diversity to build workforce skills as important components of the competitiveness of the Bahamian economy at a time of significantly increased global competition. A case study, showing the work being done by the community college in the country as a main player in improving workforce skills, is also included in the chapter. The case study illustrates the perceived skills gap in the Bahamas and the strategies identified to have this gap closed by enhancing the use of a diverse workforce and the use of technology in education, such as online learning. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG, part of Springer Nature 2020.
