Abstract

In this paper, we evaluate the impact of a training program for youths that takes place entirely inside the participant firms. Employing methods based on propensity score matching and RAIS data, we investigate the labor market insertion of participants relatively to that of apprentices, who form a pertinent control group for measuring differentiated effects of the program in focus. Our results indicate that the program positively affects the employability of participants, increasing their chances of obtaining formal employment and employment in large firms. Regarding wages, the impacts were null in the short run and negative in the medium run. © 2019 Universidade de Sao Paolo.
