As the modern world is characterized by a large number of various conflicts, it is vital for people to resolve them peacefully. So, it is relevant to develop conflict resolution skills while educating students. The research aimed to examine how certain educational environments designed to cultivate conflict resolution skills in students influence the development of these skills level. A total of 139 students of a Ukrainian university, consisted of two experimental group (E1=48; E2=46) and a control group (C=45) participated in the experiment and produced significant findings that are crucial to the field of conflict resolution skills development. The χ² test helped analyses the experiment data and make a conclusion about its statistical significance. The p-value (less than 0.05) indicated that the difference between the experimental and control groups was statistically significant at the 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that the students of the experimental groups had substantially higher achievements than the control group students. Thus, educational environments designed to cultivate conflict resolution skills effectively influence these skills level development if academic staff purposefully promotes it. It is recommended to utilize the proposed educational environments in complex within formal educational settings, during extracurricular activities and internships. © 2025, Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. Rationale: General practice is central to older patient care provision. For GP registrars (specialist GPs in training), exposure to older patients is also vital for developing chronic disease and multimorbidity management skills. However, registrars see fewer older patients, and are less engaged with older patient care, than established GPs. Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to assess inter-practice variability in the proportion of older patients seen by Australian GP registrars during training. Method: Cross-sectional analysis from the ReCEnT study of GP registrars' clinical experiences (2010–2023). The outcome was consultation with older (65+ years) patients. Inter-practice variability was assessed with Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) and Median Odds Ratio (MOR). Outcome variance attributable to practice was estimated within the Bayesian modelling framework using a mixed-effects logistic regression with cross-classified random effects for registrar and practice. Results: The analysis included 4643 registrars across 978 practices. 19% (129,659/688,281) of consultations were with older patients. The ICC was 0.15 (95% Credible Interval (CrI) [0.14, 0.17]) in a model with a random effect for practice; and, in a model adjusted for time/registrar/patient/practice variables, 0.10 (CrI [0.09, 0.11]). These values (comparable with, or higher than, reported for other general practice variables), indicate registrars' older patient clinical exposure is dependent upon the practice(s) trained in. The MOR was 2.08 (CrI [(2.00, 2.16]); and, adjusted, 1.81 (CrI [1.76, 1.87). By randomly changing practice location, the odds of a registrar's consultation being with an older patient thus approximately doubles (or, alternatively, halves) on average. Conclusion: The practice itself is the greatest determinant in registrars' exposure to older patients. Practice-level interventions are essential to improve registrars' in-training older patient care experience. © 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This research aims to study the impact of experiential learning and skill empowerment and community engagement and institutional support systems on student engagement and motivation and sustainable education in Saudi Arabian higher education institutions. The research uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS) as its quantitative methodology to study the relationships between experiential learning, skill empowerment, institutional support systems, and sustainable education . The proposed theoretical model was evaluated through a survey distributed to participants who were conveniently sampled from Saudi Arabian higher education institutions. The research shows that experiential learning together with skill development and community engagement boosts student motivation and supports sustainable education in Saudi Arabia. The study further reveals that institutional support systems have a weak moderating effect because their implementation and perception require improvement to effectively support sustainability. The main limitations are the use of self-reported data which may be influenced by response biases and the focus on higher education only which limits the generalizability of the findings to other educational levels. The research indicates that experiential learning activities including internships, community projects, and skill empowerment programs should be integrated into education to boost student involvement and motivation toward sustainability. The research applies the established theories of Kolb’s Experiential Learning, Human Capital, and Social Learning to Saudi Arabia’s educational context to show how they can be adapted to promote sustainable education through experiential learning, skill development, and community engagement. This study bridges critical research gaps by elucidating the nuanced moderating role of institutional support systems—an underexplored factor—and addressing the methodological limitations associated with a reliance on self-reported data, thereby significantly advancing the understanding of their influence on student engagement and sustainable education within diverse academic and cultural contexts. © 2025 by the authors.

Aiming at the existing problems in practical teaching in higher education , we construct an intelligent teaching recommendation model for a higher education practical discussion course based on naive Bayes machine learning and an improved k-NN data mining algorithm. Firstly, we establish the naive Bayes machine learning algorithm to achieve accurate classification of the students in the class and then implement student grouping based on this accurate classification. Then, relying on the student grouping, we use the matching features between the students’ interest vector and the practical topic vector to construct an intelligent teaching recommendation model based on an improved k-NN data mining algorithm, in which the optimal complete binary encoding tree for the discussion topic is modeled. Based on the encoding tree model, an improved k-NN algorithm recommendation model is established to match the student group interests and recommend discussion topics. The experimental results prove that our proposed recommendation algorithm (PRA) can accurately recommend discussion topics for different student groups, match the interests of each group to the greatest extent, and improve the students’ enthusiasm for participating in practical discussions. As for the control groups of the user-based collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm (UCFA) and the item-based collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm (ICFA), under the experimental conditions of the single dataset and multiple datasets, the PRA has higher accuracy, recall rate, precision, and F1 value than the UCFA and ICFA and has better recommendation performance and robustness. © 2025 by the authors.

Given the rapidly changing job market in Canada and globally, there have been increasing calls to address the transferable skills gap between higher education graduates and the skills needed for the many new and changing jobs across the labour market. To investigate which fields of study in higher education in Canada produce graduates who go on to use more transferable skills on the job, we created an index of transferable skills use at work from several background questionnaire variables available in the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) in Canada survey. A series of four least squares linear regression models were used to examine the impacts of variables such as field of study and occupation type on this transferable skills index. Teacher training and education programs were found to have the highest scores on the transferable skills index, suggesting that these programs (and other professional programs) should be considered as a source of inspiration for how all programs can promote transferable skill development in their students. We also found a connection between transferable skill use and management roles within the workplace, suggesting that transferable skills are important factors in promotion to management roles. © 2025 by the authors.

The purpose of this article is to assess the effects of teaching methodologies in the context of higher education , particularly the competency-based approach (CBA), on the development of key skills. To this end, a survey was conducted with 104 students from different fields in higher Normal Schools (HNS) and higher School of education and Training (HSET). The SPSS framework (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was the main tool used to analyses data. The results show that students have significantly developed various key skills, including creativity, teamwork, cooperation, communication, and problem-solving, as a consequence of using CBA. Moreover, the correlation between the 4Cs skills (creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking) of the HNS and HSET shows that the relationship between them is weak, meaning they are only loosely connected, except for a slight correlation between collaboration and communication, where it is observed that students with a better level of communication are more collaborative. The results of the comparison of these skills show that they do not follow the normal distribution. In conclusion, this article sheds light on the positive effects of CBA methods on the developing transversal skills among higher education students. This highlights the importance of promoting CBA in higher education programs to ensure better alignment between the skills acquired and the workplace needs. © 2025, International Organization on 'Technical and Physical Problems of Engineering'. Objective: This article aims to investigate how digital competence moderates the relationship between entrepreneurial education and digital entrepreneurship intention among university students within the framework of social cognitive career theory. Research Design & Methods: We employed a quantitative approach, utilising a structured questionnaire to collect data from 327 university students over two months. We analysed the data gathered from a diverse sample of students across different academic years using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed hypotheses and examine the moderating effect of digital competence on the relationships between entrepreneurial education , self-efficacy, outcome expectations, and digital entrepreneurship intention. Findings: Digital competence has a dual moderating effect on digital entrepreneurship intention. It positively moderates the relationship between outcome expectations and entrepreneurial intention, enhancing students’ confidence in achieving entrepreneurial success. However, it negatively moderates the link between self-efficacy and intention, suggesting that high digital competence may reduce reliance on educationally developed selfefficacy. These findings underscore the nuanced role of digital competence in shaping entrepreneurial intention, challenging the conventional assumption that higher competence unilaterally strengthens entrepreneurial drive. Implications & Recommendations: The study’s limitations include a relatively small sample size and a focus on the role of entrepreneurial education without exploring the mediating effects of cognitive structures like self-efficacy and outcome expectations. Future research should consider larger samples and examine other contextual factors, such as cultural and environmental influences on digital entrepreneurship intention. Educational programs should integrate real-world experiences, adapt content to students’ digital competence, and focus on the entrepreneurship intention process while allowing students to self-develop. Contribution & Value Added: This study is the first to explore the moderating role of digital competence within the social cognitive career theory framework on forming digital entrepreneurship intention among university students. This study advances theoretical understanding and offers practical insights for enhancing digital entrepreneurship education by revealing how digital competence interacts with self-efficacy and outcome expectations. These findings have broader implications for academia and policymakers, emphasising the need for adaptive educational approaches that align with the evolving digital landscape. © 2025, Cracow University of Economics. In the context of digitalizing the educational process for training future physics teachers, enhancing the methodological component of the “Molecular Physics” course in higher education institutions of Kazakhstan is crucial. This study aims to develop and implement a methodological system for the professional training of future physics teachers through the “Molecular Physics” course. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, including both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. The study justifies the theoretical need for reorganizing the methodological system and explores the potential benefits of the proposed methodology in enhancing the study of “Molecular Physics” among students in Kazakhstan’s higher education institutions. Data were gathered through pre-and post-tests, surveys, and a controlled experiment involving 162 participants, divided into experimental and control groups. The study outlines pedagogical conditions essential for the successful implementation of this methodology, including developing motivation among future teachers, improving teaching methodologies, and utilizing effective digital technologies. It recommends implementing this methodology through controlled tasks for independent study, employing both traditional and non-traditional teaching methods, organizing various forms of independent student work, establishing a clear scoring system, and providing feedback through innovative assessment methods. The research introduces a structural and content model for professional training that consists of three interrelated components: methodological, content-activity, and criterion-evaluation. The practical value of this work lies in its updated methodological system, which is grounded in practical methods and technologies aimed at improving the study of physics in higher education institutions in Kazakhstan. This research critically analyzed the application of Self-Determined Learning Model of Instruction within the contexts of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in higher education . In the current age characterized by globalization and digital transformation, students are not only expected to be competent linguistically but they also need to develop some other important skills such as self-directed, adaptability, and critical thinking skill to face the global competitions at workplaces. The theory of heutagogy, or self-directed learning, has been introduced a pedagogical foundation which strengthens students to be more self-reliant, reflective, and possess lifelong attitudes and characters. This study applied qualitative and critical analysis in exploring the implementation of self-determined learning models in ESP classrooms at the university level. Moreover, this research additionally explored the approaches and challenges encountered by the lecturers during the implementation of the models. The results showed that the implementation of the self-determined learning framework in the ESP learning environment can increase students’ interest and enthusiasm, and significantly encourage their active engagement in learning activities. This model not only strengthens the mastery of English material relevant to specific purposes but also facilitates the development of soft skills that are highly needed in the future world of work. Furthermore, the use of this self-directed learning model aligns with the real-world competency needs that students must possess for their professional careers. ESP lecturers need to incorporate the principles of the self-determined learning approach (heutagogy) into their learning strategies, curriculum, and assessment methods as an effort to prepare students to become independent learners in facing global challenges and a constantly changing work environment. © (c) 2026 The Authors. We examine employers’ perception of the collaboration of higher education (HE) with business and the barriers to employers’ engagement. A sample of 162 employers from Portugal filled an original survey, in 2020, designed to examine the relationship between HE and the world of work. The employers differ in the perception of the collaboration of HE with business, and this is reflected in their engagement. Some employers indicate that HE should focus on general skills, and therefore should be autonomous from business (64.8%). Those employers do not report any barriers. Others blame HE for being an ivory tower that disregards their skill needs and imposes cultural barriers on engagement, namely lack of business knowledge, difficulties to communicate with organisations and respond to immediate skills need, and mismatch between the motivations of HE and organisations (24.1%). Finally, some firms acknowledge the excessive focus of HE on academic courses and complementarily undertake the responsibility to resolve their skill problems by means of own training resources (11.1%). We can infer from our findings that not all employers expect ready-to-work graduates and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for skill problems. Firms have agency and implement appropriate strategies. The discourse against HE should therefore be reassessed. © The Author(s) 2024.
