UTILIZING ICT-BASED LEARNING RESOURCES TO ENHANCE CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION FOR PRE-SERVICE STUDENTS OF VOCATIONAL education

Article Open Access
In today’s vocational education, preparing prospective vocational teachers requires developing innovative, creative thinking that strengthens pedagogical competence and classroom management. These abilities help address the complexity of modern vocational classes and support a positive, engaging learning environment. This study examines how prospective vocational teachers manage ICT-based learning resources to encourage creativity and innovation in their professional practice. A quantitative approach was applied with 178 participants, evenly assigned to a control group and an experimental group. The experimental group used ICT-based learning tools, including interactive multimedia and various digital technologies. Results showed that participants who effectively used ICT resources achieved higher levels of creative and innovative thinking. The experimental group’s N-Gain score reached 0.756, compared with only 0.049 in the control group. This significant difference strongly suggests that appropriate use and management of ICT learning resources can help future vocational teachers create more productive classroom conditions and strengthen their entrepreneurial abilities. The notable learning gains also demonstrate that ICT-based multimedia improves instructional effectiveness compared with traditional methods. Overall, the findings clearly highlight that future TVET educators who master digital learning resources will be better prepared for teaching demands and the challenges of contemporary TVET. © 2025, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. Article
The Mexican Dual Training Model (in Spanish, Modelo Mexicano de Formación Dual, MMFD) combines education in schools with in-company training. This article investigates the level of satisfaction towards the company, school and the MMFD, as well as the perception of improvement in skills, competencies and knowledge among graduates of the Colegio Nacional de Educación Profesional Tecnológica- a MMFD-based higher education institution in the states of Mexico and Coahuila. The information was gathered by means of a survey in which the participants show high levels of satisfaction (on average 3.5 points on a scale of 1 to 4). However, satisfaction levels are consistently higher at the company than at school (on average .09 points); and also higher in Coahuila than in the State of Mexico (on average 0.7 points). Additionally, 60% of the participants notice that their work, interpersonal and decision-making skills improved a lot, while only 26% consider that their mathematical knowledge improved. © 2024 Consejo Mexicano de Investigacion Educativa. 21st Century Skills and the Digital Economy Readiness Among TVET-Focused University Students in Malaysian Technical University

Conference paper
The digital economy, a term coined for the future knowledge and creativity-based economy shaped by the Fourth Industrial Revolution's expansion of Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and automation, had a massive impact on higher education. Universities implemented educational technology and innovative pedagogical approaches to foster 21st century skills, which were expected to be the success formula for university graduates in the digital economy. The impact of Covid-19 accelerated the improvement in university courses. Work from home, virtual collaboration, and remote learning have accelerated the demand for 21st century skills in the labour market. TVET is an ideal solution to the digital economy's challenges of unemployment and precarity. However, there is still a research gap regarding digital economy readiness, the status of 21st century skills, and the relationship between skills and digital economy readiness among TVET -focused university students. In this correlational study, 219 students from a Malaysia University Technical Network (MTUN), a TVET-focused university in Malaysia, participated. As an instrument, a 24-items questionnaire was used. A descriptive analysis reveals a high level of perceived problem-solving and creativity abilities. Leadership and innovative skills were also rated highly, though not as highly as perceived problem-solving and creativity abilities. The perceived readiness for the digital economy is also high. The items were found to be extremely valid using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The fitness of the Measurement Model and the Structural Model is exceptional. The Structural Equation Model demonstrates the strong links between innovation and problem-solving abilities in the context of digital economy readiness. © 2024 IEEE.

Teaching, Occupational and Further education: Pedagogy, Identities and Knowledge

Book Open Access
This book offers deep insights into the agencies of teaching—pedagogies, professional identities, and knowledge—in the English further education (FE) sector. The sector’s porous, inclusive, diverse, and prominent features of vocational offers have led to it being overlooked and misunderstood by policymakers. To rectify this misconception and re-emphasise its importance in England’s educational ecology, FE is reframed as a rich, all-encompassing and connected sector. It proposes a new language of educational engagement by uniting vocational education and training under a new umbrella term: occupational education (OE). OE intersects work, teaching, and learning across pre-university, higher education, and professional education. A new system is provided that maps lifelong learning, irrespective of age, ethnicity, gender, disabilities, or station in life. The key audience is students, teachers, teacher educators, institutional managers, policymakers, and academics. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
